ICL stumbles on Pathway to hell

Article Abstract:

UK computer services concern ICL will be very negatively affected if the 1.5 billion pounds sterling Pathway project to computerize social security benefit payments through the Post Office, which it is leading, is abandoned. The project has gone a long way over budget and is three years behind schedule. Abandoning Pathway could have an impact on the planned flotation of ICL in 2000. It is estimated that ICL has spent more than 200 million pounds sterling on the scheme already, but total costs could reach 500 million pounds sterling.
