If he were guilty, he could be free

Article Abstract:

George Long was found guilty of the homosexual murder of a young boy and sentenced to life imprisonment but as he maintains he is innocent he cannot be considered for early release. Long has a history of inventing stories to boost his ego and invented such a tale when he heard of the boy's murder, tying him in with it. He caved in after pressure by police and confessed. His original made-up story and confession were later retracted, and were the only evidence the police had against him. The Home Office disapproves of prisoners not admitting their guilt and they are not processed in the mechanism which allows for early release.
