If it's got a plug on the end of it, Bill Gates wants a piece of it

Article Abstract:

Microsoft founder Bill Gates is determined that his company will have a dominant presence in all areas of technology. Most recently, he has admitted to having had talks with telecommunications companies and that he has considered how Windows software could be used as the base for telephony. Many Americans are now opposed to Microsoft's influence being allowed to extend further, but this may prove very difficult. It is hard to foresee a development that will really present a challenge to Microsoft.

Does tackling Bill Gates do anything for you?

Article Abstract:

Many technology experts in the US believe that the antitrust case against Microsoft will not necessarily have any practical repercussions for consumers. They argue that the case is a long way behind the rapidly evolving software market. However, this view fails to take account of the fact that this case was supposed to centre on choice. The trial indicates that, even if there is a long gap between crime and punishment in Internet time, the government will not allow companies like Microsoft to exploit their market position.
