Former Pakistani cricket player Imran Khan has over recent years taken on a new image, becoming very involved in social issues. He worked very hard to obtain the necessary funding for a cancer hospital in Lahore, which has recently been the target of a bomb attack. Some observers feel that this incident may serve to increase his popularity among ordinary people still further, possibly propelling him into mainstream politics and bringing him into conflict with prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Murdered in Paradise

Article Abstract:

Information has been received which indicates that two Britons, Keith Mangan and Paul Wells, a German, Dirk Hasert, and an American, Donald Hutchings, who were taken hostage in the Pahlgam Valley in Kashmir in Jul 1995, were murdered by their captors in Dec 1995. It is believed that they were buried near the Himalayan resort town of Kokarnag, only a few miles from where they were abducted. Indian forces have now managed to kill or capture all but a small number of the abductors.
