Is Shell going up in smoke?

Article Abstract:

There has been a very strong reaction in Germany against Shell following the company's decision to dispose of the Brent Spar oil rig by sinking it in the North Sea. There have been violent protests against the company, which have even gone as far as setting fire to a Shell filling station. The company has received many protest letters and phone calls, and has been condemned by all the leading political parties. Shell Germany is now trying to distance itself from Shell UK in order to regain public confidence.

'They decided on diplomacy. It failed. Father and the others are now dead.' (Nigeria hangs Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight others)

Article Abstract:

The recent hanging of writer Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight others in Nigeria has led to Nigeria being suspended from the Commonwealth. This could prompt Nigeria to improve its human rights record, or could simply distance it from the Commonwealth permanently. It could be expelled from the Commonwealth if it fails to release more than 40 prisoners from jail. Commonwealth leaders are currently meeting in New Zealand, where they are discussing measures to create a framework for the expulsion of member states.
