Osama bin Laden, the prime suspect in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon, feels that it is in his interests to be portrayed as a driving force behind international terrorism. He is certainly implicated in several large-scale terrorist attacks, but his influence should not be exaggerated.

It is possible that the document has been mistranslated, or there may be something more strange about the background of the hijackers.

Issues raised by Western media coverage of military action against the Taliban regime in Afghanistan are discussed. It is argued that it is vital to be cautious about interpreting this conflict as merely a war between good and evil.
