It's a jungle out there

Article Abstract:

An exhibition of the works of lithographer, oil painter, colourist and cartoonist Honore Daumier, who worked in Paris, France, in the middle decades of the 19th century, is being staged at the Galeries Modernes du Grand Palais in Paris, France. He regarded the many cartoons he produced for newspapers as merely a way of earning money, while his oil paintings were largely a private hobby. His watercolours were both a hobby and a means of raising money from collectors. The lay-out of this exhibition keeps these areas separate.

It's life, but not as we know it

Article Abstract:

The Tate Gallery in London, England, is staging an exhibition entitled 'Lucian Freud: Some New Paintings.' This covers 27 works, including 'Portrait on a Red Sofa, 'Girl in Attic Doorway,' 'Pluto and the Bateman Sisters' and 'Sunny Morning - Eight Legs.' The paintings show how Freud's work has become even more dotty, with a granular, moon-like surface. He wants his scenes to come over as some form of real life, with his studio always being an actual, particular place.
