It's always life in the fast lane for the rollerblades

Article Abstract:

In good weather some people commute to their offices in London by using rollerblades, roller skates with the wheels in line. They prefer the main roads like Oxford Street as, although the normal traffic is usually at a standstill there, the councils spend money on these roads with good tarmac surfaces and flagstone pavements. Many hang on to the back of buses, there being no law against this, but the practice is very dangerous. Rollerblading is only feasible in good dry weather as a wet leaf could spell disaster. The public are very supportive of these people.

When it's always an emergency

Article Abstract:

The British Red Cross is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 1995, and will use this as an opportunity to boost fundraising and to make itself more widely known among the general public, according to director general Mike Whitlam. For many years, it has been seen as a worthy but uninteresting charity, but hopes that this image can be improved. It will focus on its core emergency activities as a way of attracting public attention.
