Article Abstract:

Army wives accompanying their husbands to Northern Ireland for two year tours of duty, find that despite the restrictions of tight security, there are some attractions to the posting. Wives at Palace Barracks, Belfast, list these as extra income, good local schools, friendly locals and a pleasant environment. Social problems in the barracks mirror those in society generally, but army marriages are more likely to break down under the strain of overseas postings.

ITV sport is tragic, says the former Saturday anchorman. That streak of white hair has spread, but he's still on the ball

Article Abstract:

Dickie Davies was one of the most popular television sports presenters in the UK for almost 20 years, but finally severed all links with ITV in 1990. He later worked for the radio station Classic FM as sports editor, but suffered a stroke and has had to undertake extensive therapy to recover his speech and mobility. He has now returned to television as a presenter on 'Sky Gold.'

Bowled over again

Article Abstract:

Lord's cricket ground is generally associated with traditional values and old-fashioned buildings. However, it actually has a number of very fine modern buildings designed by Sir Michael Hopkins, and will also have a new grandstand designed by Nicholas Grimshaw by the 1998 season. In fact, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is a key patron of modern architecture in the UK.
