Kosovars wait for news of the lost hero

Article Abstract:

The majority-Slav Macedonian authorities are cooperating with Serbia in eliminating ethnic Albanians from Kosovo, Yugoslavia, according to Dita Surroi, wife of leading Kosovan intellectual Veton Surroi, who has been missing in Kosovo for eight weeks. She believes that he is in hiding, and that he has not been captured by the Serbs or gained the protection of the Kosovo Liberation Army. She believes rumours that UK diplomats, or even the SAS, have sought to bring her husband out of Kosovo.

New refugees report more Serb killings

Article Abstract:

There was little change at the border between Kosovo, Yugoslavia, and Albania, following a peace agreement over Kosovo. The refugees continue to face squalor, and Kosovo is still bombed by planes from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The refugees are both realistic and optimistic. Not many refugees expect to return to Kosov in 1999. Over 130 Kosovars entered Albania and told of massacres and of men being imprisoned, replacing prisoners who had been freed.

50 years on, the Germans confront the Serbs again

Article Abstract:

German troops have been warmly welcomed by ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, Yugoslavia. However, they have encountered opposition from Serb police, soldiers, civilians and paramilitary fighters in Prizren, Kosovo, and the situation there remains very tense. Many Serbs are now seeking to leave Prizren, but their departure from the city is being hampered by ethnic Albanians. Nato troops have been trying to secure a safe passage for the Serbs.
