Labour MP and the bent detective who worked for Moscow

Article Abstract:

Documents compiled by Soviet defector Vasili Mitrokhin indicate that former detective sergeant John Symonds and late Labour MP Raymond Fletcher were KGB agents. It appears that Symonds acted as an enforcer and obtained information by seducing women from foreign embassies. He claims that he admitted his involvement with the KGB to MI5 and MI6 but was not taken seriously. Fletcher's life contained many contradictions, but there was never any suspicion of involvement with the KGB.

How MI6 stole KGB's crown jewels

Article Abstract:

MI6 was extremely successful in bringing former KGB officer Colonel Vasili Mitrokhin and his wife out of Russia in 1992. It was even possible to remove large amounts of information about KGB activities from trunks buried in Mitrokhin's garden. Through this operation, MI6 has gained a very detailed insight into KGB work over many years. It is likely that the names of a considerable number of Britons recruited to work for the KGB will be revealed shortly.
