Le Comte de Paris

Article Abstract:

Henri d'Orleans, who succeed as Comte de Paris in 1940, spent his childhood in Morocco and Belgium. He studied at the University of Louvain, Belgium, and received particular training in French law and politics. He began to publish a weekly periodical, Le Courrier Royal, in 1934. He undertook a number of official missions to various European governments at the beginning of the second world war. He took up residence at Louveciennes, France, in 1950 following the abrogation of the law exiling him from France.

Yves Mourousi

Article Abstract:

Television presenter Yves Mourousi began his working life as a trainee for French radio. He developed a successful career in radio, but transferred to TF1 in 1975. He gained respect as a presenter of current affairs, and was particularly well known for his directness. He interviewed many famous people, believing that he was both providing information and entertaining. He had many interests outside television, including owning a bar and organizing variety shows.

Roger Quilliot

Article Abstract:

Writer, teacher and politician Roger Quilliot took his first political appointments when teaching French literature at the lycee of Angers, France. He became a municipal councillor in 1954, and was subsequently secretary of the departmental Socialist party in Maine-et-Loire. He was appointed to the University of Clermont-Ferrand in 1963, and from 1964 was one of the leaders of the French Socialist party as it began negotiations with the Communists.
