Lessons in how to love

Article Abstract:

There are many different responsibilities associated with being a foster parent, and for this reason it is necessary to go through a lengthy process before a foster parent is allocated a child to care for. A foster parent is now regarded as part of the social services department, and may have to support children who have committed a crime, for example. There are many different training courses for foster parents, looking at issues including relationships with the birth family, working with sexually abused children and managing children's behaviour.

A woman's work

Article Abstract:

It is important to constantly seek new opportunities for profitable business ventures, according to farmer's wife Julie Dinnis. She and her husband John accept that agriculture is in long-term decline, and realize that diversification into activities such as housing horses is the only way to ensure their farm's survival. She has set up several businesses on the farm, including converting farm buildings into small workshops, and feels that she and her husband would be able to survive if farming collapsed altogether.
