Middle-class America wakes up to a bad dream as hi-tech stock markets slide

The decline in stock markets has negatively affected many ordinary Americans, who are seeing the value of their share portfolios drop dramatically. They hope that this situation will be improved by Federal Reserve Pres Alan Greenspan, who is forecast to announce an interest rate reduction of between 0.5% and 1%.
