Murdered because he was black

Article Abstract:

It has proved impossible to obtain a conviction in the case of Stephen Lawrence, a black teenager who was murdered in a racist attack in Apr 1993. His family is particularly aggrieved by the fact that the police did not take immediate action to track down the murderers. Indeed, they feel that the attitude of the police was that this was not an important case, because he was black. His case contrasts strongly with a number of very high profile cases in which a white person has been murdered by people from an ethnic minority group.

Mother could soothe, but not cure

Article Abstract:

Mother Teresa is being widely mourned by people from all religions and all parts of society in India. She did not achieve widespread conversions, and there is still great poverty in Calcutta, India. However, Indians recognize that she devoted herself wholeheartedly to their country. She worked alongside ordinary people, and even went as far as to teach herself how to beg. These qualities overshadowed the aspects of her work which went against Hinduism.

An artist cast into controversy

Article Abstract:

The point of taking an innovative approach to sculpting is not necessarily to attract controversy, according to Rachael Whiteread, who first came to public attention with 'House,' a cast of an entire terraced house in Bow, London, England. She is most interested in simply getting on with her work, and controversy can hamper this determination. This is currently the case with a project which she is undertaking in Vienna, Austria.
