Mutual fund cash floods Wall St

Article Abstract:

US equity mutual funds are attracting record levels of private investment, and inflows are set to exceed $200 billion in 1996. This trend is being prompted by a strong bull market on Wall Street, which is expected to last in the foreseeable future. However, analysts are still growing concerned about the likely repercussions of a bear market emerging. Individual funds are also under growing pressure to achieve maximum performance in order to attract customers.

How long before the Wall Street party's over?

Article Abstract:

Many observers are now considering whether US stocks can sustain into 1997 the very high levels which they achieved in 1995 and 1996. Indeed, some feel that a dramatic decline in stock levels is inevitable at some stage. There are no factors in the US economy which suggest that a collapse is impending, with indicators showing steady, low-inflation growth. However, there must some limit to the market's rise before valuations begin to lose credibility.

Pink slips rain down on Wall Street traders

Article Abstract:

US securities firms experienced very difficult conditions in 1994, and many have had to reduce their workforces quite considerably. They are now looking to reorganise and to find ways of protecting their share of a market which is becoming increasingly competitive. Observers believe that firms are still becoming leaner as they seek to cut costs, and believe that prospects of new employment for those who have been made redundant are very poor.
