My blueprint for victory - return to Old Labour values

Article Abstract:

Spending on public services in Scotland is much higher than in London, England, where there are significant levels of poverty. This key issue of higher public spending in Scotland indicates the way for Labour to become the natural majority party in England. Labour performed very badly in England in the 1980s, when low levels of public spending allowed former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to create a rift between disillusioned voters and public services that often performed badly because of underfunding. In contrast, Labour performed well in Scotland, where public spending was higher.

Do the control freaks really want Labour to lose London?

Article Abstract:

The UK Labour party seems unwilling to allow its local branch in London, England, to operate in a democratic and independent manner, even though it has acknowledged that some element of self-determination is becoming necessary for the Welsh and Scottish Labour parties. This has been seen most clearly in the vetting of candidates for the mayoralty and the new London assembly. Acting in this way brings the danger of creating a climate of bitterness.
