Myth of the Aids avenger

Article Abstract:

Irish priest Father Michael Kennedy claims that an HIV-positive woman has deliberately infected up to 80 men in the village of Dungarvan, near Cork, with the HIV virus. He reports that five young men have already been found to be HIV positive and that many others are now being tested for the condition. The claim has not been taken seriously by medical experts, who point out that the chances of being infected with the HIV virus through only one sexual encounter are extremely low.

Send in the counsellors

Article Abstract:

It is now common for counsellors to be used in the aftermath of a tragedy, such as the recent murder of Philip Lawrence, the headmaster of St George's School in London. This has led the Centre for Crisis Psychology to express concern about the new image of counsellors as being able to remove all negative feelings, leaving those affected able to carry on again. The media is now seeing counselling as an all-embracing cure, which is a very distorted view.
