Are we really what we eat?

Article Abstract:

Growing social segregation in the UK is reflected in the fact that many poor people simply do not have access to the sort of food that would ensure that they can eat a healthy, varied diet. Even if they do have access to this food, they cannot afford to buy it. Poverty means lack of choice in food, as in every other area of life. Sir Donald Acheson's recent speech to the Royal College of Physicians indicates that mothers are going hungry to feed their children. This is because they cannot afford to eat, not because they do not know how to.

I haven't got my tickets to the World Cup - and I don't care

Article Abstract:

The World Cup football tournament seems to have become a national obsession in the UK. This is very frustrating for the apparently small number of people who are not at all interested in football. They are beginning to feel increasingly alienated, and fear that their social life will be badly affected by not being able to talk about football. They are particularly concerned about fact that football has become a strange mixture of sport, politics and patriotism.
