Need a haircut? Forget it. You're 40 - and frumpy, too

Article Abstract:

Hairdresser Michael Damico does not enjoy doing conservative haircuts, and for this reason he tends to focus on younger women. He rejects claims that he is ageist, even though he has been fined $1,000 by the Consumer Affairs Commission for discrimination based on age after turning away a woman aged 45. He prefers to work totally alone at his salon in Manhattan, New York, NY, and does not employ a receptionist or people to wash clients' hair. He sees himself as an artist, and cuts only short hair.

Marriage? No, I'd rather live

Article Abstract:

Many young women in the UK are now beginning to realise that marriage does not necessarily bring satisfaction. In the past, women had to marry because they were unable to support themselves, but this is no longer the case. Single women can now have a very enjoyable lifestyle, and many have decided not to marry at all or to delay getting married until their 30s. Marriage tends to reduce a woman's independence, and also involves her in many trivial household tasks.
