Nicholas Budgen

Article Abstract:

Nicholas Budgen was a politician from the United Kingdom Conservative Party who was among rebels opposed to the policy on Europe of the prime minister in 1994, John Major. Budgen would not move on issues of intellectual principle. He argued that national independence was threatened by certain legislation and he was often shown to be right. He was especially concerned about European monetary union, and the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union.
