Laura Hockney

Article Abstract:

Laura Hockney, mother of artist David Hockney, was a devout Methodist who devoted her entire life to her large family. She held strong views, including strict vegetarianism, but did not feel the need to impose these views on others. She was the subject of many portrait drawings, paintings and photocollages by David Hockney, and these give a strong insight into his artistic development and into the humanity and affection that form a key element of his art.
