Official. Money is now growing on trees

Article Abstract:

Investors who wish to take advantage of the strong growth in interest in gardening in the UK should consider purchasing shares in companies which own garden centres. The two main listed companies are Country Gardens and Wyevale Garden Centres. Garden centre shares are currently trading at around 20 times earnings, and these shares are relatively highly rated in terms of smaller companies. It is important to be aware that the performance of garden centre shares can be unpredictable.

Shop around for good investment options

Article Abstract:

Many of the UK's banks and building societies are now offering very low rates of return on investments. A similar trend is taking place on the stock market, with the annual return on dividends hardly reaching 4%. Investors seeking a higher rate of return should be aware that they will be exposing themselves to the risk of not getting all their money back if economic activity slumps. It is worth considering investing in a fund which holds income shares from a range of trusts.

Not such risky business

Article Abstract:

Derivatives trading generally has a rather negative image, but derivatives can actually play a valuable role in offsetting risk. There has been growing interest in guaranteed and protected funds, and more investors are also using options to obtain exposure to stock market gains. It is now becoming more widely acknowledged that derivatives, although they can be risky, are relatively safe when used in a packaged product.
