Ooo, er, missus, what a carry on!

Article Abstract:

'Carry On Columbus' is the first 'Carry On' film to be made for 14 years. Between 1958 and 1978 their schoolboy humour and double entendre were very popular but their executive producer, Peter Rogers, thinks their appeal has not declined despite modern anti-sexist ideas. The director, Gerald Thomas still receives a lot of fan mail. He has cast some alternative comedians alongside some of the original actors. Improvisation does not work in a 'Carry On', the comedy must stick to the script. Columbus cost 2.25 million pounds sterling,a fraction of the cost of a Schwarzenegger production.

Top of the bill (less 15%)

Article Abstract:

Avalon and Off the Kerb are the leading agencies for stand-up comics in the UK. They manage acts, organise tours and recruit new talent, and have also recently moved into television, books and video. They still derive most of their income from the live circuit, and have signed up most of the best new stand-up comedians of the last decade. They compete very strongly, but both have applications from many more comedians than they can actually take on.

Shock troops of the Big Top

Article Abstract:

Circus company Archaos does not have the acts traditionally associated with the circus. Instead, it focuses on acts which are deliberately designed to shock audiences. Techniques such as a huge screen at the back of the stage which flashes up random images and phrases are intend to overload the senses, and the latest show, 'Game Over,' is a tangled mix of music, performance, film and dance.
