100-year-old pharmacy holds on to its heritage

Article Abstract:

New York, NY-based Lascoff's is celebrating its centenary in 1999. Mayor Rudolph Giuliani has officially recognized the landmark store for 100 years of service to the community. The historical site, which has a cathedral-like serenity, gives visitors a feeling that they are treading in the footsteps of long-gone apothecaries of another era. Lascoff's has retained most of its original store cabinets and apothecary globes and its staff continues to do everything manually.
