Pensioners to save, and then they'll prosper

Article Abstract:

UK Chancellor Gordon Brown has announced plans for a credit for pensioners which will come into effect in Apr 2003. Single pensioners will be permitted to receive an occupational pension of up to 1,000 pounds sterling a year, while couples can receive up to 1,500 pounds sterling and still qualify for additional assistance from the state.
