Prisoners talk their way out of drug problems

Article Abstract:

The Rehabilitation for Addicted Prisoners Trust has seen considerable success with its group therapy programme among prisoners at HMP Coldingley. Almost all the trust's staff have experienced drug problems themselves, and this gives them a clear insight into the problems experienced by prisoners who take drugs. Partly as a result of this programme, the prison has been able to cut the number of inmates testing positive for drugs from 40% to 15% in only a year. The UK government is now recognizing the importance of expanding treatment programmes for prisoners addicted to drugs.

Untouched by modern times, now these tribal people find the might of P&O at their door

Article Abstract:

UK concern P&O plans to construct a 29-berth port with a passenger terminal and facilities for delivering coal, oil and cement on the west coast of India. This would be built on land occupied by the Dahanu Warli tribe in the state of Maharashtra. The scheme has attracted considerable controversy, as the area is designated as ecologically fragile. It would also have a considerable impact on the Dahanu Warli people, who live a very simple life and are not assimilated with the rest of India.
