Ring of confidence

Article Abstract:

German steel tubing and hydraulic lift manufacturer Mannesmann has become one of the most active players in the European telecommunications industry. It can now compete in around 50% of the western European telecommunications market, and plans further expansion. Indeed, it aims to become the main competitor to Europe's former state-owned telecommunications monopolies. Mannesmann Chief Executive Klaus Esser acknowledges that the business environment is very competitive, but states that he plans to keep Mannesmann as an independent company.
