Article Abstract:

The UK's industrial tribunals are now handling a growing number of claims for unfair dismissal. However, they cannot make very large awards, and it can take some time to obtain a hearing. It is therefore worth considering other ways of obtaining compensation for unfair dismissal. An employee who is instantly dismissed may have a contractual claim, based on the value of the salary and benefits lost during the notice period. There may also be a statutory claim, with an employee who has completed more than two years' continuous employment having a right to claim for unfair dismissal.

Out of the house

Article Abstract:

People who own a small company must take into account both their business and personal situation when undertaking financial planning. It is common for such people who invest all their financial resources in their business, and this means that they often neglect their personal financial requirements, such as a pension. Setting up a company pension scheme will allow considerably higher contributions to be made than is permitted under a personal pension scheme, but can be restrictive if early retirement is anticipated. It is also important to insure against long-term illness.

How to get Bianca and Tiffany out of your property

Article Abstract:

Tenants can often find it very difficult to enforce their rights against an aggressive landlord. Most residential tenants are now protected by the Housing Act 1988, which sets down the procedures which must be followed by the landlord to establish an assured shorthold tenancy, under which the lease can be terminated on two months' notice at any time after the expiry of the first four months of the lease. If these procedures are not followed, or if only a verbal agreement is made, then the tenant obtains enhanced protection against eviction.
