Single black attitude revisited

Article Abstract:

Recent research has indicated that a high proportion of black women aged 20-39 are single, many by choice. To determine why this should be so, it is necessary to look at the social, cultural and economic factors which have created the black community in the UK. For example, the very high level of unemployment among young black men could be an important factor, as could the fact that equal opportunity policies have allowed young black women to achieve higher educational standards.

The black militants who fuel the fears of racists

Article Abstract:

The members of the Nation of Islam who caused a serious disturbance at the inquiry into the murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence showed disrespect for the victim's family. They fell into the trap of making rebellion an end in itself, and simply lived up to the stereotype of black people being unruly. The Nation of Islam has done some good work in the UK, but this work is being threatened by the more sinister side of the movement.

How I became a surrendered wife

Article Abstract:

The views presented by Laura Doyle in the book 'The Surrendered Wife' are discussed. It is acknowledged that a relationship can benefit if a woman tries to focus on the positive aspects of her partner, rather than seeking to argue.
