Some find the case for ethics hard to stack up

Article Abstract:

There has been a rise in the number of UK retailers adopting ethical policies over recent years. This has been particularly common among supermarkets, and seven of the largest now have ethical policies. However, some observers have doubts about the ability of many retail managers to ensure that ethical policies are implemented effectively. It takes time to establish ethical auditing systems, and they are often very different from quality auditing systems. Furthermore, there is still uncertainty about what the term 'ethical' really means.

A hard sell for advertising

Article Abstract:

A 'twinning' scheme established in Jun 1996 by 30 of the top advertising agencies in the UK and universities running undergraduate marketing and advertising courses aims to create closer links between higher education and the advertising industry. It is hoped that the scheme will allow colleges and universities to improve the structure of courses and allow students and advertising agencies to become better informed. The linked institutions and advertising agencies are now working on a range of joint activities to launch in autumn 1996.
