Spend! spend! spend!

Article Abstract:

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has a personal fortune estimated at $18.5 billion, of which around $13.5 billion is derived from his 2.47% stake in Microsoft. He has made many acquisitions, and now has an extensive business empire. He is unwilling to talk about his business activities, but enjoys a very active social life, frequently holding lavish parties for celebrities and friends. Some observers have raised doubts about his business strategy, and feel that there is a risk that he will never be seen as equal with fellow Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

A waste of space

Article Abstract:

The International Space Station (ISS), which is mainly funded by the US and Russia, will never be cost-effective. The facility, which will cover 4,000 sq mt when completed, has cost $60 billion so far, and costs continue to rise. There are several plans for how the ISS could be used, but none of these will be profitable. US space agency Nasa has sought very hard to create a positive image for the ISS, but has found it extremely difficult to attract commercial funding.
