Sweet tooth music

Article Abstract:

Lionel Ritchie writes some of his songs to suit his producer, James Carmichael. He wrote the song 'Endless Love' when with The Commodores and it convinced him to make a solo career. He relies on inspiration for his writing and often watches television without the sound to keep his conscious mind off his composition. He learned stagecraft from watching Marvin Gaye and the Jacksons when on stage with them. He learnt to do his main act in the first song and not to introduce the show until after the third song. He performed at the closing ceremony of the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 1984. His latest album is a greatest hits collection 'Bact to Front'.

He who pulls the strings

Article Abstract:

Keith Richards is 48. the older he gets the more he physically resembles his blues singers heroes. He has about 300 guitars. His solo album 'Main Offender,' released in Oct 1992, has rock songs he wrote in his New York apartment. They include variations on the jumping Jack Flash riff, which he wrote on an acoustic guitar. He completed his recording in nine days without sleep, a knack he has. The Rolling Stones plan to re-form in February 1993, but Keith has to discuss it with Bill Wyman, who may not wish to re-join.
