The Rev Professor Anthony Dyson

Article Abstract:

Theologian Anthony Dyson read Modern Languages and Theology at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, England. He trained for ordination in the Church of England between 1959 and 1961. He became Chaplain at Ripon Hall, Oxford, England, in 1963 and subsequently became Principal. He negotiated a merger between Ripon Hall and Cuddesdon College, Oxford, England, in 1974 and became Canon Theologian at St George's House, Windsor, England. He took a lectureship in modern theology at the University of Kent at Canterbury, England, in 1977 and in 1980 took the Samuel Ferguson Chair of Social and Pastoral Theology at Manchester University, England.

The Rev Professor Ulrich Simon

Article Abstract:

Ulrich Simon was a theologian who was born in Berlin, Germany, in 1913, and worked in London, England, first as a lecturer at Kings College, University of London. He was a prolific author and his works included 'The Ascent to Heaven' and 'Heaven in the Christian Tradition'. He had a pessimistic streak and was concerned about the impact of liberalism. He was Dean of King's College, though delegated details of daily organization. He was also a music lover and had his violin restrung on the day prior to his death.

The Rev Professor Adrian Hastings

Article Abstract:

Theologian, church historian and priest Adrian Hastings was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1929. He studied at Worcester College, Oxford, England, and then trained for the diocesan clergy. He was ordained priest in 1955, and in 1959 began work as a curate in Uganda.
