The ageing playboy of Europe

Article Abstract:

Monaco has traditionally been associated with great wealth, but this is no longer the case. Rich Russians who established a presence there in the early 1990s are now departing because of the collapse of the Russian economy, while the number of mafia members in Monte Carlo, Monaco, has declined following a crackdown by the Italian government. Similarly, law-abiding Italians, who once dominated Monaco's restaurants and casinos, are also departing as economic conditions worsen. Societe des Bains de Mer, which runs Monaco's grandest casino and the most glamorous five-star hotels and restaurants, is now running at a loss.

From Newsnight to New Age

Article Abstract:

It was fascinating to work as a reporter for the BBC's 'Newsnight,' according to former investigative journalist Michal Levin, who now speaks and writes about spirituality. She emphasizes that she has tried to retain the logical, analytical nature of reporting in her current occupation. She has been able to develop detailed insights into people's lives, and would like other people to be able to see what she can see. She does not regard herself as a clairvoyant, stating that she merely has a higher level of intuition than other people.

On your bike: this is war

Article Abstract:

It is common for tension to exist between cyclists and other road-users in the UK. Car drivers often feel that cyclists take unnecessary risks and fail to stick to the rules of the road. In contrast, cyclists believe that car drivers too often ignore their presence and sometimes even try to scare them deliberately. Cyclists often cycle on the pavement, rather than the road, and this also brings them into conflict with pedestrians.
