The art of starting a business

Article Abstract:

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has begun to place strong emphasis on the need to encourage entrepreneurship. The UK's venture capital industry, as a percentage of gross domestic product, is already three times that of continental Europe and larger than the US. However, most of the investment is taken by management buy-outs, not start-ups. New and small businesses still face high levels of regulation, and there is still cultural opposition to people who make money.

You must worry if your customers don't complain

Article Abstract:

It is important for companies to be aware that customer complaints can play a valuable role in improving their performance. Companies should welcome complaints as a sign that customers care about the business and want it to improve so that they can maintain a relationship with it. Technology can be very effective in ensuring that the opinions of all customers are received and in creating groups of regular customers willing to act as performance monitors.
