The best of the weeder's digest

Article Abstract:

PG Wodehouse portrays gardening as a form of escape, with gardens creating a dreamy, relaxing atmosphere. In contrast, George Eliot shows intimate awareness of the details of plants and gardens. Gardening is an important subtext, and symbolically divides the worthless characters from the worthwhile ones. Jane Austen also uses gardens to give more information about her characters. Her description of a strawberry-picking party in 'Emma' also gives an insight into the history of strawberry varieties.

The answer is blowing in the wind

Article Abstract:

Chemical sprays can be very effective for removing garden weeds. In particular, they can be of great assistance in clearing large patches of ground overgrown with weeds. However, it is important to be very cautious about the use of such sprays. Non-residual sprays, which act only on the weeds and do not remain in the soil, should generally be preferred to soil-acting weedkillers, which should only be used in places where nothing is to grow again.
