The business of death

Article Abstract:

Many companies fail to acknowledge the impact which bereavement can have on an employee, according to bereavement charity Cruise Bereavement Care. Employers tend to expect bereaved employees to carry on almost as normal, and do not realise that bereavement can have wide-reaching implications beyond merely feeling sad. However, Midland Bank has gone against this attitude by creating Crisis Mentors, a specialist division which deals with a range of employee problems, including bereavement.

It's soft at the top

Article Abstract:

It is becoming increasingly common for employers to recognize the value of emotional intelligence. Indeed, some now believe that emotional intelligence is a key element in successful leadership. Employees with high levels of emotional intelligence are able to understand their own emotions and those of their colleagues, and are able to perform consistently in many different situations. They also display high levels of both short-term and long-term motivation.

Hands off please, I'm a pagan

Article Abstract:

Pagans have until recently kept a very low profile in UK society, but they are now speaking out more frequently, especially as they come under attack from the Church of England. The Pagan Federation, which was set up in 1971 to combat negative press reports, now brings together a number of different branches of paganism. It is looking to create a more positive image for pagans, and is membership is increasing at 25% a year.
