The day asthma-sufferer Katie was found with a paper bag over her head

Article Abstract:

Asthma is the most common childhood illness in the UK after colds and influenza, but many schools still do not know how to deal with a child having an asthma attack. The Dept for Education and Employment and the Dept of Health produced voluntary guidelines for schools on managing pupils with asthma in 1996, but it seems that few schools have implemented these guidelines. There are no plans to make the guidelines compulsory.
