The new generation: tomorrow belongs to us

Article Abstract:

Many young people in the UK have had an early introduction to the harsh realities of life, according to the 2020 Vision survey of 10,000 young people aged between 12 and 25 undertaken over two years by the Industrial Society. They have often grown up in broken homes, and do not have a sense of belonging to a particular community. They are also concerned about their employment prospects. These factors have combined to make young people take a very serious approach to their future. They believe that it is particularly important to know how to deal with people.

The war on drugs is a dialogue of the deaf

Article Abstract:

It is widely accepted that there is an urgent need to review the UK's drugs policy. People from both sides of the debate about the legalization of drugs agree that current methods of policing drug-taking are ineffective and cannot be sustained. However, it is important to be aware that making drugs policy changes will not bring any positive results unless young people are receptive to the efforts being made. The most effective approach would be to have an advocate to monitor police activities in the youth culture.

So, are the kids all right?

Article Abstract:

Many of today's young people are moving away from the nihilistic attitudes of the 1980s. They no longer have high ideals, their rebellions tend to be short-lived and they have clear ideas on sex, employment and drugs. They are organised and confident, and are unlikely to be dominated by others. Most have some respect for traditional institutions, and are not usually activists.
