The politics of the BBC (Ben Bradshaw, Candidate)

Article Abstract:

There has been considerable controversy surrounding Ben Bradshaw, a high-profile BBC journalist and reporter who has been maintained by the BBC on paid leave since Sep 1996 after having been selected to fight a parliamentary seat for the Labour party. Many licence-payers were alarmed at the thought that their funds were maintaining a Labour party candidate, so BBC executives have hurriedly found another job for Bradshaw. Further controversy has also been caused by the fact that Bradshaw is openly homosexual.

Scourge of the Brontes returns

Article Abstract:

Some chest specialists in the UK believe that the NHS has failed to take adequate measures against tuberculosis (TB). They claim that infection control in hospitals is not sufficient, that TB surveillance has been poor and that the problem has not been taken seriously. Indeed, some even go as far as to state that TB could once again be a very serious problem in the UK within a few years, particularly since there are now strains of the disease which are resistant to drug treatment.

Life's a vacuum without it

Article Abstract:

It is still common in the UK for women to spend much more time doing housework than men. However, there is a growing minority of men who share household tasks equally with their partner. In some cases, this is because the man works from home or stays at home to look after the children. Some men choose to do housework because they actually enjoy it. In some cases, they regard housework as an extension of their interest in decorating.
