The road to hell is paved with good intentions, all the way from Thessaloniki

Article Abstract:

Myth acts as a sort of model for how people deal with issues such as loss, grief and death, according to Actors Touring Company Artistic Director Nick Philippou. He worked with Kenneth McLeish on the production of a translation of 'Ion - The Lost Boy Found,' a play by Euripides which had previously been largely unknown. He is now working with McLeish again on a new version of the Orpheus story. This is now being staged in London, England, after having toured in Northern Ireland, Greece and the UK.

'I give good baddy, me.' (actor Keith Allen)(Interview)

Article Abstract:

It is easy to become typecast as an actor if you have a certain appearance, according to Keith Allen, who is most well known for playing villains. However, he is quick to emphasise that he has also played a range of other parts. He is determined not to be typecast, and takes care not to lose control of his image. For this reason, he is also involved in directing and writing. He is soon to play Lenny, a mild character, in Roger Michell's revival of Harold Pinter's 'The Homecoming.'

Mystery tour

Article Abstract:

There has been a revival in interest in Mystery Plays recently, even though church attendance has declined. Five major versions of Mystery Plays are to be staged in the UK in the near future, with audiences likely to be attracted by their directness and simplicity. Directors find Mystery Plays inspiring, and regard them as offering an opportunity to establish close links between the actors and the audience.
