The sweet blank of success

Article Abstract:

John Cusack is an intuitive actor who is charismatic and handsome, and who also has a darker side. He argues that a role has to include a dark side for him to be interested in it. He portrayed a hustler in 'The Grifters' and portrays a contract killer in the new movie 'Gross Pointe Blank'. He set up a theater company called New Crime with two schools friends in 1987. The friends were D.V. DeVincentis, who whom he co-wrote "Gross Pointe Blank', and Steve Pink. Cusack enjoys experimentation and this helps explain why he has not become as famous as Tom Cruise. He also argues that celebrity is not good for an actor.

Kevin Spacey is an actor whose movies include 'The Usual Suspects', and he has also directed 'Alibino Alligator.' He tends to portray complex characters as an actor, but argues that he himself is not complex. Spacey may appear aloof, then suddenly enthusiastic, and may seem effete, then suddenly brutal. He plays a role in a movie by Clint Eastwood 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, and will be playing in the Almeida theater in London, England, in early 1998.
