The ultimate dream of Wall Street's deal maker

Article Abstract:

Travelers Chief Executive Sanford Weill has worked extremely hard to create a financial and insurance conglomerate with activities including property, life insurance, annuities and casualty insurance. He gave Travelers a global presence with the purchase in Sep 1997 of Salomon. This deal was intended to ensure that Travelers benefits from the privatization of government-owned companies around the world. The company's merger with Citicorp will place it in an even stronger position to benefit from international opportunities.
