Thinking of an MBA? Start reading here

Article Abstract:

There are now many publications aimed at people considering a master's degree in business administration (MBA) course. It is worth beginning with a publication that answers basic questions about studying for an MBA. Katherine Lea's 'How to Choose Your MBA' gives valuable information, but some of it is now out of date. It is particularly worthwhile reading the Association of MBAs' 'Guide to Business Schools,' which looks at whether an MBA qualification will be of benefit to different types of people and gives details about all institutions offering a UK university-accredited MBA course.

So you want to carry on studying ...

Article Abstract:

The two main types of postgraduate courses offered by UK universities are those involving instruction and those involving research. Taught courses usually last a year full time, with students gaining a master's degree or postgraduate diploma. Doctorates, for which some original research must be undertaken, last at least three years. For students wishing to pursue an intellectual interest, the decision between a taught course or research will be determined by the nature of the interest. For those wishing to work in research and development, a PhD is normally the best option.

Article Abstract:

Scottish students receive their Highers examination results prior to the start of the clearing process which matches students without offers of a university place to places on offer in the United Kingdom. Students may achieve the grades they need for the course they want. If they do not gain the required grades and have to use the clearing process they should use the week to assess alternative courses and institutions to their first choices, and be ready to apply immediately the process starts.
