This Golden Bear is a honey

Article Abstract:

The fact that Walter Salles' film 'Central Do Brasil' won a Golden Bear at the 1998 Berlin Film Festival marks the beginning of the revival of the Brazilian film industry. This follows a period during which local film production almost came to a complete halt following the closure of the State Film Board in 1992. 'Central Do Brasil' is a modest film which is not immediately appealing, but has great honesty. It confirms Salles' reputation as one of the most talent young filmmakers currently working in Latin America.

Could you run that by me again?

Article Abstract:

Key films shown at the 2001 Cannes film festival are discussed. Jean-Luc Godard's 'Eloge de l'Amour' is very hard to follow, but is less impenetrable than David Lynch's 'Mulholland Drive.'
