This man says the photocopier will never be the same again

Article Abstract:

Digital technology will be used by up to 45% of UK businesses by the end of the 1990s, according to John Hill, head of Toshiba's electronic imaging division. He predicts that there will be considerable interest in using a networked printer that can also act as a fax, scanner and photocopier. It will be necessary to offer a very strong service and support network, and photocopier manufacturers are in the best position to do this. He will begin attracting the interest of potential customers in early 1998, when he will hold educational seminars.

Coming soon to a screen near you ...

Article Abstract:

British Telecommunications (BT) is giving strong support to electronic cinema technology, which allows high-resolution film images to be delivered and projected electronically to individual cinemas. This technology would allow cinemas to be used for hosting corporate real-time video events when films are not being shown. BT is also developing variable bit rate video streaming, which permits users to view full motion pictures on a PC. It is also possible to choose television advertisements and news clips in real time.
