This verdict is not the end. I will clear my name

Article Abstract:

District Auditor John Magill took a flawed approach to his investigation of the activities of Westminster City Council in the late 1980s. In accusing top former council officials of gerrymandering, he has failed to take account of the facts and the legal position. What actually happened was that Westminster council sold 562 homes under the designated sales scheme, with 427 going to existing council tenants, families on the official waiting list and housing association residents. Only 22 homes were sold to non-residents.

In the name of the children

Article Abstract:

The decision by Lewisham council in London, England, to inform local parents that a convicted paedophile is living in the area has highlighted problems connected with such cases. Some observers believe that it is vital to identify paedophiles to the local community, but others are not convinced that this is the best approach. This is mainly because of the danger of mistaken identity. Furthermore, exposure can have a very damaging impact on the life of an ex-offender who is now trying to lead a blameless life.

The name of the game is our perfect partnership

Article Abstract:

The idea of all members of the same family sharing a surname is very attractive, according to novelist Julie Myerson. She is not married to her partner, Jonathan Myerson, but they decided together that she should use his surname, especially as her original surname had very negative connotations for her. Changing her surname has made her feel much more happy. Jonathan Myerson is glad that she changed her name, and enjoys the confusion that can arise because they share a surname but are not married.
