Tory leader finds little comfort at the end of the road

Article Abstract:

UK Conservative party leader William Hague has attracted considerable criticism, even from prominent members of his own party. In particular, there is concern about his plans to make changes to the party. However, he has succeeded in gaining a considerable amount of support as he undertakes an 18-day tour of the UK. Nevertheless, only around one-third of the party's 300,000 members are expected to vote on Hague's reform plans.

UK Chief Inspector of Prisons Sir David Ramsbotham has expressed concern to Home Secretary Jack Straw about conditions at Stoke Heath young offenders' institution in Shropshire, England. Areas of concern include the high level of injuries among inmates.

Woman, 18, convicted of gang-rape on towpath

Article Abstract:

A jury at Blackfriars Crown Court in London, England, has found 18-year-old Claire Marsh guilty of participating in the gang rape of a woman in the Ladbroke Grove area of London. Marsh is the youngest woman to be found guilty of rape in the UK.
