Tourists, bloody tourists

Article Abstract:

Tourism brings problems for host communities, but has been tolerated for the economic benefits that it brings. This is changing within Europe, and stricter controls on tourism are starting to emerge. Benetton has sponsored a campaign in Venice, Italy, that aims to focus on the impact of tourism, and some local people are critical that tourists could be frightened away. Greenpeace is organizing a tour showing the environmental problems of Venice. There is a similar concern in Cambridge, England, where the city council wishes to lessen the impact of tourism.
